On 3rd December, 2021 we in partnership with Siva Trust, Tirunelveli, observed the International Day for the Disabled by providing livelihood support to two women with motor disabilities. The first is Ms. K.Rani of Thekkampatti in Coimbatore district. With a disability in her left leg, she has to single handedly manage her two school going children due to the death of her husband three years ago. Her income as an agricultural coolie is very meagre and not enough to support her family. She is trained in sewing but could not afford to buy a machine.
We provided her with a motorised sewing machine given so that she can earn an extra income in her free time to support her family expenses and children’s education. We also managed to get local help and provide a sewing machine to another beneficiary, Ms. Masilamani, who is orthopaedically challenged. She is also trained in tailoring and she will use the machine for an additional income.
