COVID-19 has affected the entire world. We have never a pandemic affect the earth on such a mammoth scale.
Sadly, although the effects of COVID-19 are felt worlwide, there is a certain section of the population that has been more severely affected than the rest. These are the daily wage earners, who have lost their means to earn a living.
Keeping this situation in mind, we decided to extend our support to 35 families below the poverty line who depend on daily wage from coolie (luggage carriers) work.
An effective humanitarian response includes avoiding overlapping of relief activities. The State Government was already providing the above mentioned families with rice, pulses and cooking oil. To avoid duplication of efforts, we decided to provide them with we gave them 1 kg. Sooji, 1kg.Onion, 1kg. Potato, half kg. Sugar, one packet of salt and 50 gram’s of turmeric powder.
The intention behind this initiative was to ensure that families depending on coolie work are well fed.
With support from the Police, our volunteers, Karthick and Mahalakshmi from Vanniconendal, Tamil Nadu distributed the packets.
CIF extends a hearty Thankyou to them!
