People in urban slums are extremely vulnerable to COVID-19 and its added implications.
This applies to those residing in Chennai’s Vysarapadi slums. 75% of residents are daily wage earners, they are either porters, auto drivers or housemaids and construction workers. This makes them all the more vulnerable to the coronavirus pandemic.
One of our partners, BSSSG (Bro Siga Social Service Guild) works specifically with women and children of Vyasarpadi who are extremely poor. Their families found it extremely difficult to run themselves during this crisis.
We reached out to fifteen such families and provided them with rice, oil and biscuits.
The beneficiaries, BSSSG board, staff and families appreciated us and expressed their gratitude. We truly feel blessed to be able to support the most vulnerable in this time of need.
We thank Mr.Sundara Moorthy for his efforts as a volunteer in this distribution.
